An Anger Management Activity Or Two To Help Diffuse The Situation

Anger is a normal reaction to something that really upsets or threatens you; you might find yourself responding to a bad situation with aggression. It can even be healthy at times and necessary to your survival.

But if you allow your blood pressure to go ballistic if someone cuts in front of you in line, or another driver does something really stupid on the freeway, or, heaven forbid, one of your children acts up in a store, then you may need to use some anger management activity to calm yourself down.

If you are often angry, you could be damaging your health, not to mention your relationships with friends and family.

There are many ways to solve this problem. Take a timeout by slowly counting to ten before reacting to the situation. If possible, remove yourself from the location and give yourself time for your anger to subside. Once you are calm, you can return and discuss the problem in a logical manner.

Stress contributes to anger and frustration, so give yourself an outlet for these emotions by going for a walk, working out at the gym, or doing something constructive such as cleaning the house! These anger management activities work to help your rage to subside by releasing endorphins which trigger positive feelings.

One good anger management activity is to realize just what is making you angry and try to find a solution. Is your spouse always late for dinner? Then schedule dinner for one hour later, which will give you time to unwind while dinner is cooking and be in a relaxed state of mind when he or she finally arrives. If your child’s room is looking like an explosion in a toy factory, simply close the door and don’t look at it. You know it’s there, but if you can’t see it, it can’t send you into a fit of frustration.
