An Anger Management Activity Or Two To Help Diffuse The Situation

Try not to hold grudges – learn to forgive and forget. Your anger hurts you more than anyone else and makes you feel bitter and resentful; if you can let it go, you will feel much more at peace with yourself.

Sometimes, you just have to see the humor in a situation that is driving you crazy. This anger management activity is easier said than done, but sometimes arguments get to be so ridiculous that you forget what you’re mad about and start to laugh.

Try to learn relaxation skills. Yoga is the best antidote to anger, so try to practice the yoga breathing exercises or a pose you are familiar with. Lie back, close your eyes, listen to soothing music and try to go to your “happy place” if things get on top of you.

Perhaps you aren’t the person with the anger problem. Does your child display anger at the least provocation? There are anger management activities that you can help your children to use.

Sometimes, a homework assignment is difficult – encourage your child to seek help instead of getting angry about it. If your child has a problem with putting his or her anger into words, try to get them to visualize their anger by drawing a picture of why they’re angry. Try to distract your child with physical activities to diffuse the anger, such as having a pillow fight or racing each other around the yard. And give hugs – lots of hugs. Sometimes, simply sitting down with your child on your lap will allow you to draw out the reason for the anger and deal with it.

Anger shouldn’t be suppressed completely, as we all need to give vent our feelings once in a while, but if it’s an everyday occurrence, then perhaps counseling is needed.
