Body Language Of A Liar – Using Body Language To Detect Lies
|
Liars tend to be fidgety as well. When talking to someone, check out how often they scratch behind their ears or play with their hair. Do they touch their faces a lot (especially around the mouth and eyes)? Are they shuffling their feet? Does the person seem to be filled with nervous energy? All of these can be a sign that he or she may be lying to you.
Also, look at the facial expressions closely. Someone who is lying is more likely to lick his or her lips excessively. They are also more likely to suck in the lower lip or purse their lips more often. The person lying may also be more likely to gnaw on their lips during the conversation. These are some possible telltale signs of the body language of a liar.
When trying to detect the body language of a liar, look for closed body language as well. Crossed arms are an indication that the person you are talking to is holding back. This is a good indicator that they may not be telling you the whole truth (or even a partial truth). Also, if they have turned their body away from you, this is a clue they are not being honest with you and that they want to disengage from the conversation.
Look at the person’s hands for another indication of lying. The person you are talking to may either hide his or her palms (an open palm is an indication of telling the truth), or they may make excessive hand gestures. They may use numerous hand gestures as a means of distracting you from the face; thereby convincing themselves that they have fooled you.
