Having Good Parent Child Relationships – Improving Relations With Your Children
|
A great way to establish wonderful parent child relationships is to let your child help you with things around the house. If your child has shown an interest in cooking, include him or her in the meal preparation. Make sure the tasks you give your child are age appropriate. For example, you don’t want a toddler chopping vegetables for a salad; however, you can place the vegetables in a zip lock bag and ask the child to “toss” them. By doing things together, you are establishing a much stronger bond.
Set aside play time for you and your children. Take them to a park and play outdoors with them. If it is a rainy day, bring out the board games and have a fun time playing games and building a family relationship. This is also a great time for talking, since you and your children will be more relaxed. Other than improving parent child relationships, playing active games and sports also encourages your child to develop healthier habits.
Most important, make sure you say “I love you” to your child often. You child needs to hear that he or she is loved, and you are the most important person in that child’s life. Simply saying those three words helps strengthen the parent child relationship.
If you start developing that relationship early in life, the parent-child bond will be strong throughout the years. You will be helping your child develop into the wonderful adult you dream they will be. Also, you will be helping them develop the skills necessary to be wonderful parents when they have children of their own.
There are many ways to improve the parent child relationship. All it takes is a little time and effort.
