If you struggle with little confidence, I’ll bet that your thoughts are primarily ones that sound like this: “I’m a failure. No one likes me. I’m not popular. I can’t do anything right. I’m not pretty / handsome.” These types of thoughts will bring you down for sure. A huge key to increasing self-confidence is to practice positive affirmations daily.

Positive affirmations are positive thoughts that you commit to thinking and speaking out loud. Turn all of those negative thoughts into positive ones, whether you actually feel positive or not – this is one method of how to build confidence. As you commit to thinking more positively and reciting the positive affirmations regularly, you will find yourself becoming more positive and more confident.

As part of how to build confidence, declare statements such as these: “I am beautiful and people like me. I am smart and successful. I can do anything that I put my mind to. I am blessed more and more everyday. I like myself.” Come up with your own affirmations as well. You will eventually become what you think, so allow positivity to rule your world!

It’s easy to get comfortable in life. We like to stay in our comfort zones. If you want to become more confident, though, sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone. If you want that promotion at work but just aren’t confident enough, you may have to take some actions that may be uncomfortable in order to get that promotion. You may have to force yourself to talk to your supervisor or take on that extra project to show more initiative. You may have to take that continuing education class to become more of an expert. Taking action, even if it causes a little anxiety, will help you to become more confident in the long run – this is an important part of how to build confidence.

Don’t allow fear to stop you from becoming all that you want to be. Sometimes, some fear and anxiety are common when starting something new, but courage is available to walk through that fear and accomplish what you’ve set out to accomplish anyway.
