Almost everyone reaches a stage in life in which he or she doubts their own self worth. They think that they are terribly flawed and that there is nothing good about them (their looks, their abilities).
When these feelings are allowed to linger, they develop into low self esteem. If you find yourself at this stage in life, don’t despair. Here are some tips and suggestions for self esteem help that will allow you to rediscover the wonderful person you truly are.
Remember, you didn’t get to this point overnight, so it is going to take some time to rebuild your self image and self confidence. Also, you must realize that you will suffer setbacks, but as you practice good self esteem, you will find that you are much better equipped to deal with the setbacks.
The first tip for self esteem help, is to stop and take a good look at yourself, but instead of focusing on the negatives, look at the positives. Take an inventory of your life over the past few weeks and look at anything that has turned out right for you (even if it’s as simple as getting to work on time every day). Before you can begin to celebrate the major victories, you have to learn to celebrate the everyday accomplishments.
Take out a journal and, at the top of the first page, write, “Things that I Can do Well.” Now, make a list of the things that you do well, whether it’s cooking, cleaning, playing an instrument, putting together puzzles, anything. The point of this exercise is to get you to look at the positive things you do.
