Dealing With Low Self Confidence – Ways To Raise Your Confidence Levels
|
Make a list of all your positive attributes and carry the list with you. When you accomplish something, add it to the list. That way, when you are having a “down in the dumps” day, you can pull out your list and look at all the things you have already accomplished in your life. Don’t limit your list to major accomplishments. Include the small things in your day as well.
For example, one of the most frustrating things a person can do is try to lose weight. Many people get discouraged at the slow progress involved in losing weight properly. If losing weight is your goal and you have low self confidence because it seems to be taking too long, look at how far you have come and write it down. If you took the stairs today instead of the elevator, add that to your accomplishment list. By writing down your good attributes, you are redirecting your mind from the negatives, thereby boosting your confidence.
Learn to stand up for you. Another major source of frustration is that many people simply do not stand up for themselves (or don’t even know how). If you learn to be assertive, you will find that self confidence quickly follows. Another way to increase your assertiveness (and consequently your self confidence) is to learn new skills. By being able to increase your abilities to complete tasks (or tackle new, difficult tasks), your confidence level will soar.
Learn to set realistic goals for yourself and break it down into steps that you know you can reach. Once you reach each milestone in your goal, reward yourself for the accomplishments. Follow your dreams and you will find more self confidence and more happiness.
Low self confidence is something that everyone faces at some point. While it is true you will have times when your confidence level sinks, you don’t have to remain in the dumps. By following some of these steps, you can learn to boost your confidence level and tackle the things that life throws at you.
