Use Visualization Exercises To Improve Your Life

Visualization is a skill which can be learned in order to expand the mind, to enhance constructive thinking, and to improve the participant’s performance and obtain positive results in life, love and business.
It involves self-hypnosis and meditation, and is said to control negative thoughts and engage a person’s creativity and imagination.
Visualization exercises are geared towards helping the individual learn the skill of imagining a detailed mental picture of an object, a peaceful scene, or a place where he or she would like to be.
Visualization exercises can be performed alone by simply using your imagination and powers of concentration or with an audio tape either made by yourself or by using a set of purchased tapes. There are many sources online for audio tapes, some of which can be downloaded at no cost, but you will have to decide which of them is suitable for your purpose. Many make the claim that they can make you an expert at visualization exercise in hours instead of months or years – so let the buyer beware!
If you are trying visualization exercises for the first time, make sure you are in a quiet place and unlikely to be interrupted for 20 or 30 minutes. Imagine an orange. Can you smell it? Feel it? Visualize yourself peeling the orange and taking a bite. Feel the juice run down your chin. Is it sweet or sour? If you can do this simple beginner’s exercise, then you are ready to take the next step and imagine yourself succeeding at your job or having a wonderful relationship or friendship.
You must imagine yourself in the first person, that is, you experience your visualization exercise firsthand, through your own eyes – not as an onlooker. Try to feel, smell, taste the sensations and emotions you are visualizing with the full range of your imagination. This will take a lot of practice but soon this technique will become easier and feel more natural to you.
It has been claimed that the Olympic champion swimmer, Michael Phelps, visualized himself having webbed hands and feet to make him swim faster, but I don’t know whether or not this is true. If it is true, then it worked very well for him.
It is said that people who undertake visualization exercises and meditation exercises feel healthier and live longer, probably because they are able to better deal with the stresses of every day life. It is also claimed that people who achieve the deepest meditation levels can tap into the dormant areas of their brains.
One myth that is widely reported is that we only use ten percent of our brains; however, this is probably not true, having changed over the years from a report that “we only use ten percent of our brain’s capacity” to stating that “we only use ten percent of our brain.” – which is purported to be a quote by Albert Einstein, although research has never found any statement to that effect on his part.
Perhaps we aren’t using our brains to their full capacity, but how will we ever know? Science may be able to tell us at some point in the future, but for now, we have to accept that we simply feel better if we use visualization exercises, meditation and yoga, which make us feel more peaceful and able to cope with the stresses of the modern world.
